Conservatives Call for Full Investigation into ArriveCAN Scam
November 1, 2022
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Ottawa, ON – Today, the Conservative Party moved a motion in the House of Commons forcing debate for the Auditor General to conduct a performance audit on the ArriveCAN app to ensure full transparency and accountability. A vote on this motion will be held tomorrow.
MP Arnold Viersen released the following statement:
“The ArriveCAN app has been a disaster since its beginning causing Canadians unnecessary stress with its glitches, privacy concerns, and forcing 10,000 Canadians to quarantine unnecessarily upon return, locked in their own homes.”
“Now we find out that the government spent $54 million to develop an app that could have been developed for under $250,000. They did this without oversight or transparency.
“The Liberals are refusing to be honest about the missing money and the secretive contracts, and they’re sticking Canadians with the bill.
“With millions of taxpayer money missing, Canadians have a right to know who is getting rich, and where that money is now.
“Conservatives will not back down from demanding answers about ArriveCAN and accountability for Canadians. We want a full audit on all payments, contracts and sub-contracts for the ArriveCAN app.”
