This week Peace River – Westlock MP Arnold Viersen tabled petitions from residents of Fox Creek and Swan Hills regarding the Northern Living Allowance Deductions.
Both towns are just below the line by about 12 kilometres and residents note that extended travel times, and increased heating costs and other expenses make life more expensive in these communities.
As such, they are asking to be moved from the prescribed intermediate zone in Alberta, to the northern living allowance zone so that they can get the northern residents deduction.. Over 400 constituents signed the petitions.
