MP Viersen Starts New Year Meeting Constituents

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 16, 2024

BARRHEAD, AB – In the early weeks of the new year, Arnold Viersen, MP for Peace River
Westlock, has been meeting with community leaders, small business owners, and
constituents to discuss key issues affecting the riding.

“As we start 2024, there are a number of critical issues that are directly affecting
communities and families across our riding,” says MP Viersen. “Life has never been more
expensive for Canadians, rural crime continues to rise, federal deficit spending is driving
inflation and housing shortages are growing.”
Recent meetings included:

  • Jan 9 – Peace River Rotary Club
  • Jan 9 – Northern Sunrise Council
  • Jan 9 – Peace River Academy
  • Jan 10 – Whitecourt Chamber of Commerce

MP Viersen also invites constituents to meet for coffee when he visits their town. Last week,
he advertised a coffee meet-and-greet at the local A&W in Grimshaw on social media.

“A large riding and Trudeau’s carbon tax on fuel can make it quite difficult to travel to my
office in Barrhead. So, I enjoy being able to meet constituents in their communities and had
some great conversations last week in Grimshaw,” said MP Viersen.

“I am grateful to the hard-working folks across our riding. No matter how cold it gets, small
businesses continue to serve their communities, our energy workers keep the rigs working,
and our town councils are doing all they can to tackle rural crime and increase public
safety.”

“When Parliament resumes shortly, I will be focused on bringing home common sense
solutions with Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre and my colleagues. We will axe the
carbon tax, end inflationary deficits, tackle rural crime, and bring home lower prices for all
Canadians.”
