Letter to the Editor – Spike April 1st Tax Hike
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
March 21, 2024 – Ottawa, ON
Dear Editor,
If Trudeau doesn’t vote to spike the hike, Conservatives will call a vote of non-confidence so
Canadians can vote in a carbon tax election. Because after eight years of Justin Trudeau, life has never been more expensive, and he won’t stop making things worse for Canadians.
With another increase set for April 1st, we will see a 23% increase in the carbon tax, impacting
small business owners and hiking the cost of our gas, heat, and groceries. This is yet another
kick to Canadians who are already down, and his plan is to quadruple this tax on everyone.
Trudeau’s inflationary carbon tax means a family of four will have to pay $700 more in groceries in 2024.
A Canadian food charity is expecting one million additional visits to food banks this year, after
last years record-breaking visits. In 2023, 36% of charities had to turn people away because they were running out of resources.
People are being forced to choose between filling their car, heating their home, and feeding their family. On top of this, Trudeau will be imposing another tax hike on the same day – a 2% tax hike on beer, wine, and spirits.
These tax hikes may be coming on April 1st, but Canadians know the pain they are feeling
thanks to Trudeau’s inflationary taxes is no joke.
Pierre Poilievre is clear: common sense Conservatives will axe the carbon tax, for everyone,
everywhere, for good. But until then, Trudeau must listen to common sense Conservatives, and millions of Canadians, and spike his April Fools’ Tax hike.
Spike the Hike. Axe the Tax.
