Stop the Home Equity Tax

We recently learned that the Liberals funded another research report aimed at taxing the homes
of Canadians. Their aim is to implement an annual progressive surtax on homes worth over $1
million. That may sound like a lot, but with rising inflation, it may not be long before your home
is worth that or more. This study estimates that the tax would allow the Liberals to take more
than $6 billion each year from nearly 1 in 10 Canadians.

It takes a lot of work to purchase a home. This Liberal tax will make it even harder for people to
buy and keep their homes. Many people rely on the money from the sale of one house to pay
for the next one. For some, the value of their home is their primary way of saving for retirement
