Coronavirus 3, Liberals 0
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
April 9, 2021
Barrhead AB: This week, Conservative Party leader Erin O’Toole announced that, if elected Prime Minister, he will launch a public inquiry to examine the government’s coronavirus response. We need to learn from history to avoid the loss of life and jobs that we have seen.
The reality is that Canadians are suffering today because of a series of bad decisions by the Liberal government at the beginning of the pandemic, bad decisions that have led to a cycle of endless lockdowns.
Last spring, when it was clear that vaccines would be the key tool to turn the page in the crisis, Justin Trudeau dropped the ball completely. He turned to China, of all countries, to partner with on the making of a vaccine. That ill-advised, risky decision is why we are lagging the developed world today.
We’re still scrambling to catch up. The Liberal government’s failure to protect Canadians is a national disgrace, especially in a country as strong and prosperous as Canada. More recently, the Liberals’ quarantine hotel fiasco is further evidence of a government that is inept and out of touch.
Let’s be clear: we should not be going into another lockdown. It was Justin Trudeau’s responsibility to get tools like vaccines to the provinces in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19. His failure on vaccine supply has left Canada vulnerable to a third wave of cases.
This Prime Minister’s inability to deliver on rapid tests and vaccines has put our economy at financial risk and has had a damaging financial, mental and physical impact on Canadians and their families.
It’s time for a Conservative government that will secure jobs, rebuild the economy, and get Canadians back to work.
